The Artemis x Hannah Crosbie Box
This box was created for women's networking group Artemis by writer and natural wine aficionado Hannah Crosbie. Hannah picked two natural wines - one Pét-Nat and one skin contact - that make the perfect introduction into the world of natural wine. The duo is made upon a striking biodynamic Pinot Gris and an Italian Pét-Nat from the Valli Unite cooperative.
"With this tasting box, I wanted to introduce two key wine styles that have defined the natural wine zeitgeist: Pét-Nat and skin contact. For me, these wines represent exactly what has made natural wine so popular: they're elegant, fruit-forward and thought-provoking styles that deserve all the attention they get."
Located in southeast Piemonte, Valli Unite is maybe Italy’s only natural wine cooperative. This wine was produced by Italian winemaker Ottavio Rube within the cooperative, where vineyards lie amid beehives, farm animals, orchards, and truffle-filled woodlands. The organic cooperative was founded in 1981 and is now made up of 25 members who cultivate everything from bread to cheese to meat. Everything in the cooperative is organic and as natural as possible, and their wine is no exception. Il Brut & The Beast is a Pét-Nat, which means the wine was fermented spontaneously and refermented in its bottle. Expect crisp bubbles and a delicious toasty aroma, with elderflower and green apple acidity on the palate.

Produced by winemaker Lucien Brand in Alsace at Domaine Brand. Founded in 1956, the farm originally produced tobacco, wheat and livestock, with only a few acres of vines. Over the next few decades, they began to expand their vineyards, before deciding to go organic and then biodynamic. Fast forward to today, Domaine Brand et Fils are considered local specialists with a comprehensive approach to agriculture and winemaking. Fleurs Macération is a skin contact Pinot Gris, which indicates that the wine spent extra time on skins before pressing. The result? An aromatic, floral and juicy wine, with a lingering finish and swathes of berries on the palate.
